Testing

MHS School Counselors can assist students in preparing and registering for standardized tests which are important for college admissions, industry credentialing, and other areas pertaining to students' goals.  These include:





PSAT @ MHS

PSAT stands for Preliminary or Practice SAT.  For sophomores, the PSAT will help you become familiar with the test layout and know what to expect for the SAT.  For juniors, the PSAT is another way to practice for the SAT and it is also the qualifying test for the National Merit Scholarship Program. 

Cost for MHS Juniors: $17.  Register by paying cash or check in the Counseling Office.
Cost for MHS Sophomores: Free.  Register HERE.
Cost for non-MHS students (e.g. homeschool): $17.

SAT  @ MHS

Taking a college entrance exam is a graduation requirement in the state of Idaho.  To meet this requirement, all juniors at Moscow High School will take either the SAT or the AccuPlacer.   MHS will take care of registering your student for the appropriate test and there will be no charge. 

Information on the SAT

  • Location: Moscow High School
  • Test Date: Tuesday, April 14, 2020 at MHS / Make-up Test Date is Thursday, April 23, 2020 at MHS
  • Cost: Free

Information on the  ACCUPLACER

  • Students with Individualized Education Plans may opt to take the ACCUPLACER instead of the SAT
  • Location: Moscow High School
  • Test Date: The testing window is February through April, and we will help students find a day and time that works with their schedule.  The ACCUPLACER is a computerized test that is leveled to a student's abilities.  There is no time limit.
  • Cost: Free

ASVAB @ MHS
The ASVAB is a multiple-aptitude battery that measures developed abilities and helps predict future academic and occupational success in the military.  The ASVAB tests General Science, Arithmetic Reasoning, Word Knowledge, Paragraph Comprehension, Mathematics Knowledge, Electronics Information, Auto and Shop Information, and Mechanical Comprehension.

The ASVAB can be taken by students in grade 10, 11, or 12.

Cost: Free.

AP (Advanced Placement) Testing
AP tests are intended to be the culmination of AP courses.  AP tests assess how much you have learned in the course and provide the possibility of earning college credit.  For more information about earning college credit for AP exams, see the AP Credit Policy Search.

Cost: $94 per exam (this can be covered through Advanced Opportunities funding)
Cost of Cancellation after November 15th: $40
