COVID-19 Extracurricular/Activities Protocols

EVENTS

 

Stage 1 and 2 Guidelines for all Coaches and Participants:

 

  1. Face coverings and social distancing of six feet is required when participants are not actively engaged in an activity (e.g., on bench, huddles, breaks, locker rooms, pre/post practice).
  2. Equipment will be sanitized every 15 minutes when participants are sharing equipment and at the end of practice for those with their own equipment.
  3. The host site will designate a cleaned and disinfected area for teams to unload and load buses separate from fans, spectators, and other individuals not essential to the team or group.
  4. Visiting team locker rooms (maximum occupancy: 20) should be cleaned and sanitized by the host site before visitors arrive.Access to locker rooms will be limited to athletes and staff essential to the game, contest, or event.
  5. Fan and spectator areas should be at least six feet from team/group areas like team benches or performance areas.Where distancing is not feasible, other methods such as face coverings, physical barriers, or other risk mitigation efforts deemed suitable by the school will be implemented.
  6. Water bottles, towels, and personal equipment are not to be shared.
  7. The host site will provide sports and contest officials an area to enter and exit separate from fans when possible.Officials’ dressing room should be cleaned/sanitized prior to their arrival.
  8. Pre and post-game gestures of sportsmanship between teams and with officials should be conducted in ways that reduce the risk of COVID-19 transmission.For example, at the conclusion of a volleyball match, each team will line up on their end line and wave to the other team to congratulate them on a great match.

 

Stage 1 and 2 Guidelines for Spectators:

  1. Indoor Facilities: Face coverings and social distancing are required for all spectators.This makes the capacity of the Bear Den approximately 250.Seating will be marked, and every other row will be vacant.
  2. Outdoor Facilities: Masks and social distancing are required for all spectators.
  3. Individuals with a medical exemption from mask wearing need to have a signed document from their healthcare provider or Health Department.

 

Stage 1 and 2 Guidelines for Transportation:

  1. Parents may transport their student athlete to away contests.Approval forms are available in the school main office.
  2. All bus passengers will be required to wear face masks and use hand sanitizer prior to boarding.Passengers will be expected to space themselves out as much as possible and/or meet MSD Transportation guidelines.Windows will be cracked to promote air flow.

 

Stage 1 and 2 Guidelines for Concessions:

  1. Staff, contractors, and volunteers involved in food service are required to wear face coverings and gloves.
  2. Food service counters will be disinfected every 15 minutes.Dining areas (tables, etc.) will be cleaned after each patron departs.
  3. Sites will avoid leaving condiments, flatware, or other traditional table top items on the counter.Condiments and flatware (single use, individually wrapped) will be provided upon request.
  4. A Plexiglas or similar barrier will be put in the concession area to mitigate COVID-19 transmission.

 

Stage 1 and 2 General Event Guidelines:

  1. Facilities will be cleaned and sanitized prior to contests.
  2. Start times will be staggered to allow for cleaning between contests.
  3. Schools will provide hand sanitizing and/or hand washing stations at entrances and inside the facility.
  4. Post-game interviews will be conducted while wearing face coverings and maintaining social distance.A designated area for interviews should be determined.

 

PRACTICES

 

  1. All participants will be required to wear a mask when not actively engaged in activity.
  2. Coaches will screen participants with a questionnaire prior to each practice.
  3. Practice times will be staggered to allow for cleaning between sessions.
  4. Equipment will be cleaned prior to and during practices.
  5. Participants should practice in consistent pods when possible.

 

Dealing With A Positive Test: (Will ultimately match MSD policy)

  1. Public Health District will contact school/School will contact Public Health District.
  2. Encourage parents to contact school and begin isolation.
  3. Exposures determined via contact tracing enter the return to play protocol.Current CDC guidelines on exposure: Less than six feet without facemask for more than fifteen minutes.
  4. No information regarding student or student age will be released.

 

Return to Play Protocol:

  1. Ten days of isolation following a positive test; fourteen days of isolation if identified by contact tracing.
  2. No fever over 100.4 for 24 hours—without fever reducing medications.
  3. Improvement in respiratory symptoms (cough, shortness of breath).
  4. At least ten days have passed since symptoms first appeared.
  5. In the event of a Positive test ,a note for clearance from a medical provider or public health agency will be required for reentry.

COVID WAIVER
