Sportsmanship

"One person practicing sportsmanship is far better than fifty others preaching it."

-Knute Rockne

SPORTSMANSHIP MEANS:

  • Treating everyone with courtesy
  • Cheering for your team, not against the other team
  • Treating officials with respect
  • Using appropriate language and behavior

EXPECTATIONS OF PARENTS and OTHER FANS:

  • Realize that a ticket represents a privilege to observe a contest and demonstrate support for activities. A ticket is not a license to verbally assault others or be generally obnoxious.
  • Respect the integrity and decisions made by contest officials.
  • Be an exemplary role model by positively supporting teams in every manner possible, including content of cheers and signs.
  • Recognize and show appreciation for an outstanding play by either team.
  • Respect fans, coaches, officials, and participants. Respect the players' efforts win or lose.
  • Refrain from use of any controlled substance before and during games.

We must remember that activities are part of the educational experience and do not exist for the same reasons as college or professional athletics.

Please join us as we teach our youth the benefits of good sportsmanship!
