Workforce Innovations Opportunity Act (WIOA) / GED

WIOA or Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act is federal legislation that is designed to strengthen and improve our nation's public workforce system and help get Americans, including youth and those with significant barriers to employment, into high-quality jobs (dol.gov/agencies/eta/wioa).

The Idaho Department of Labor Services for Youth administers the program and will provide personalized career counseling, financial and other supports to help youth become employed.  This could include deciding on a career, obtaining a GED (General Education Diploma), other training programs, or searching for employment.  The program is customized!

To be eligible, participants must be:

  • 16-24 years old
  • An Idaho resident
  • U.S. citizen or work-authorized.
  • Not attending school or training (graduated or dropped out, for example).

Terry Sheets is our local contact in the Lewiston office and is the best person to help begin the process of working with WIOA.
